It all started in 2014 when I was starting to have some really bad periods.
The final scare was when I was bleeding for almost 4 months straight. I made an appointment and my GP did biopsy and said I unforunately had fibroids.
He put me on some meds do regulate and spoke about potential surgery. I was scheduled for surgery on the 7th of November, 2014.
I went for pre-op on the 6th of November and was told my insurance was cancelled so I therefore brushed having the operation off until I was able to get on my husbands insurance almost 2 years later.
The last few months of those 2 years I was having constant abdominal pain (so bad it would make me vomit) always a week after my period.
In January 2016, I finally got a new doctor. After a few monthly visits, biopsy and ultrasounds with him he confirmed that I had fibroids and told me my others symptoms were probably IBS. I knew for certain that it wasn't IBS and that it was something more serious than this.
On July the 6th I had a partial hysterectomy, and then went back on July the 12th for staple removal and post op. He told me that surgery went really well and that I was healing very quickly........ however said "but". That "but" had me in this roller coaster of a horrible nightmare that I still wish I could wake up from.
On July the 15th I went to see a gynaecologist and after CT scans and a ca125 test he confirmed that I had stage 2 serous carcinoma of the ovaries.
Being fresh out of surgery he suggested that I start chemotherapy first and then have surgery. I had 3 treatments of carbo/taxol and had a full hysterectomy on October the 17th.
A week later I was having severe stomach and back pains. I then went to hospital and I had a huge blood clot. One week in the hospital to drain and they sent me home with the drains for 2 weeks.
After, I went back for another CT scan and they saw 2 masses that went unoticed near the colon and omentom. I then get the news that I'm at stage 3 low grade serous carcinoma that most of the time is not responsive to chemo.
He rescheduled my 17th of November post op appointment to the 29th of November to have some time to discuss my future treatment options.
I'm lost, scared and confused but beyond blessed to have my wonderful husband by my side through all of this.
